The snapsack is a simple, efficient and convenient way to carry goods and materials. It holds it's contents across the user's back and out of the way.
This Snapsack pattern is four pages, and will make a rugged bag if made from good quality canvas. The original would have been made from "sailcloth", linen or hemp canvas.
Easy to make, and use, it is a very good option for a mid-eighteenth century woodsman who doesn't have a huge amount of gear to carry.
For best results, the user should tailor the strap length to his own body, taking into consideration any blankets or groundcloths, etc., that he may choose to carry wrapped around the snapsack. This is a concern for men with large chests, but the standard strap length will be fine for most average sized men.
