Welcome, Friend, to the Southern Rangers Camp. I'm glad you could join us!
The object of this group is to portray the Rangers originated by General James Edward Oglethorpe for the protection of the Colony of Georgia in 1735. His original Georgia Rangers were formed of Scottish Highlanders. A proud and warlike people, their temperament was well suited to the rigors of life in the southern colonies. They knew how to wrest a crop from the soil and tend cattle, and that's the way they provided for themselves and their families, all the while having to be on guard against the treacheries of the Spanish, the French and the native allies of both.
The time period we focus on is the French and Indian War period of 1755 to 1763, but we try to be flexible enough in our presentation to accurately portray people living as early as 1750, and as late as the 1790's. This is so we can participate in events at a variety of venues.
We will strive to present a comprehensive picture of who we are, what we do, and where and when our activities take place, so that anyone interested in either participating or observing our events will be able to do so.

The fire is going well. Come on in and join us. When you've warmed up and had something to fill your belly, find a spot and get some rest.
We've got much to do, and the morning will come early. Rest while you can. We'll wake you when it's your time for guard duty. It's my turn for duty right now, so I'll check on you when I return from my post.
